Little weekly update...

Not much going on besides our usual craziness. Maybe a few things.

1. Mason got glasses! He looks so grown up and quite handsome. Very distinguished. The best part was watching him realizing how nice it is to actually see. His vision isn't terrible, but he's nearsighted, just like I am. I was exactly his age when I first got glasses. Sorry about that Dude.

2. Grandma (my mom) spent two days stressing over food for this "over 50's luncheon" for the ladies at church. She made homemade potato salad, coleslaw (again, homemade), homemade rolls, and at the last minute decided to add some Jello salad as well ("I thought we needed something 'light' she said"). Another fabulous cook from the ward brought dutch oven BBQ. Yum! I totally wanted to crash the party. After all that work, do you know how many ladies came? 7! Seven. Not that she was expecting an army, but c'mon gals, get with the program! Didn't they know who was doing the cooking? To be fair, the numbers were pretty slim also because it was a little rainy and it was supposed to be a picnic. Anyway, we've been eating leftover "salads" for a couple of days now, but I finally decided enough is enough and threw the rest away. Poor Mama, she really has never learned how to do things "half-cocked" and now that she's older it really takes a toll on her nerves. I was at least glad that we figured out her new food processor, that slaw would have been a royal pain to chop by hand!

3. I have decided now that Mozart's Requiem is one genius piece of work. And no one really knows how much he wrote himself and how much was added by others after his death. So to Mozart and all other contributers: GREAT JOB. I bought a copy on iTunes and I just can't quit playing it. I've sung it before, but this fall I will be participating in a huge performance of it to honor the victims of the 9/11 attacks. I'm not the soloist of course, but I've been practicing the solos anyway, just because that's what I always do. It's nice to be prepared. You never know when a soprano soloist might get sick or have some unfortunate event right before the performance. Just sayin.....:)

4. We're truckin' right along with our Lost habit. I think we're in season 5 now. I have to laugh sometimes, it's so ridiculously far-fetched. But I like it.

That's about it. I'll get a picture of Mason later with his glasses on.

  1. Your poor mom! I would be mad. That said, I can't make myself do something halfway even if common sense tells me that that's all I need.

  2. I would have loved going to a luncheon for some of Elizabeth's food. I will never forget when John and I were newly weds we use to go over for Sunday dinners and those dinners tasted so good to me--she is a great cook. Mason will look great in glasses, can't wait for the pictures
