Departures

OK, I saw a movie last night that has to be one of my favorites of all time. All time. I am not sure why Americans can't make movies like this. My two favorite movies both have subtitles, and this is now one. The other? Les Choristes. If you've never heard of it, I suggest you get it from Netflix asap.

I know I'm a little partial to Departures for a couple of reasons.

A. it's about a man who plays the cello, so there's the most beautiful cello music spread throughout the movie.

B. The man ends up getting a job preparing bodies for burial/cremation. Having participated in a few funerals lately, I am actually quite interested and find a lot of beauty in these final ceremonies that are done as people say farewell to loved ones. I won't get into all of my testimony of the resurrection, which I was going to do, because I just wanted to tell you about the movie. Because it's an amazing work, really. Highly recommended.
