I decided to have Lucy's party at a local park, and I felt like it was a success. I made cupcakes and stuck a little kitty (10 cents each...yay!) on each one. We also had PB sandwiches, chips, and fruit for lunch beforehand. It was a little cool and overcast (maybe 65 degrees) so we practically had the park to ourselves. I only invited Lucy's preschool friends, because most of her church friends go to a different preschool on Fridays, and Friday morning was the best time for us. Anyway, it turned out great. Lucy just loves playing with her buddies, both girls and boys.

Here's the girls eating lunch, the boys are at the table behind. For some reason I bought an entire ROLL of that spring green plastic tablecloth stuff, so if anyone wants to use some let me know.

Here's the cute moms. Amanda, on the right, is an amazing photographer and after seeing my pics I'm really wishing I had asked her to bring her camera.

Here's Crawford, one of Lucy's best friends. When she recounts stuff that he says or does, she can hardly get the words out, she's laughing so hard. Somehow I think you have to be there.

Lucy and Haydn. No, Haydn's not that tall, she's up on a bench.

I made Lucy a giant cupcake the night before, and then went to teach voice. When I got home to frost the cupcakes, it was gone. I went crazy accusing everyone of eating it and tearing the house apart looking for it, and finally broke down and got out a cake mix and made her another one. I just found it the other day, in the freezer. As much as I love saving money and think that $250.oo is totally insane to spend on a kids' birthday party, I am starting to think that my sanity is worth a little something too.

I let Mason and Samuel miss the morning of school to come help me (Matt had to work of course). Contrary to this picture, Mason was extremely helpful playing with the kids and just keeping things fun. When I dropped him off at school, he said, "I'm actually relieved to go to school, it's a lot easier than your party Mom."

Cute Samuel.

Cute friends.

Happy Birthday Lucy!
ReplyDeleteAnd here I was thinking that you were making up that all of her preschool friends wore snazzy bishops dresses with smocking all the time.......
Even to a park........
I am like you, I refuse to spend exorbitant amounts on kids parties. I think the play date ones are the best. I have done several similar to yours. The kids have just as much fun. Looks like a great job to me!!
ReplyDeleteOn your previous post... love all the pictures. You and Matt sure are a great looking couple. Happy late anniversary.
