Happy Birthday Lizzy, and my verdict on BBQ

I can't believe my Lizzy is 3 years old! She's so amazing, and we love her so much. I think she had a good birthday. It was actually stake conference yesterday, and Mom offered to stay home with her so Matt and I could sing in the choir without worrying about Lizzy. So she spent the morning being spoiled by Grandma. Then after a quick lunch, she went to sleep and slept her birthday away. She woke up to a delicious dinner of Western BBQ. See, I've been a BBQ fan for quite a few years now, but admitted that I'd only tried Eastern BBQ (in the below photo, it's the lower sandwich...chopped fine, no tomato products of any kind). Well, then during our last trip out in the NC mountains, we stopped at a restaurant for some Western Carolina BBQ. Oh. My. Gosh. Matt and I have been thinking and talking about that awesome, moist meat and the vinegary, ketchupy sauce every day since then. Since we have a little smoker, we decided to try our hand at it for Lizzy's birthday. Not that Lizzy likes BBQ, but since I did carry her for 9 months and push out that big 9 pounder, I think I get a little say on what we eat on her birthday. It turned out AWESOME! We had friends over and it was so fun. So, after our success with the BBQ, we have to say that now we're officially a fans of Western BBQ. Not that we don't love Eastern...who can resist a stop on the way to the beach for some awesome, vinegary BBQ and hushpuppies?
Now some thoughts on Lizzy. Things I love about her.
1. She's so smart.

3. She loves watching kids, reading their expressions, and figures out what everyone is feeling.

4. She loves going with the flow. She rarely melts down in public because she's too busy people watching or making friends.

5. She loves to help in the kitchen. When I'm feeling frustrated that she's underfoot, I fill the sink with soapy water and let her "wash the dishes." 45 minutes of peace.

6. She's street smart, not just book smart. She's no dummy and can hold her own with her siblings, whether it's calling "FRONT!" in the tub, hiding her own little toys under the table, or sneaking little treats out of their bags, she needs no help getting her fair share of everything.

6. She loves her blanket or "B" and her pacifier "mimi." I really need to get rid of the mimi, but I'm dragging my feet.

7. She loves books. And puzzles.

8. She loves music.

9. She likes a little Micky Mouse now and then, but she's not addicted to TV.

10. Her favorite song is "Give Said the Little Stream." I can see that she shares more than a name with her Grandma. I hope she will grow up and realize the joy of "give-oh-give....give-oh-give."
