Laundry Laments...

OK, so I've talked about laundry before. It's part of my Monday routine and frankly, I don't mind it at all. I really like it actually. But sometimes in sorting the kids' laundry, I have puzzling questions, some that fit in the "that's the way kids are, it's normal" category, and others that are just weird.

In gathering clothes off the floor, I often find perfectly clean clothes from last week, still folded, still on the floor, that never quite made it to the drawers. OK. That's kids. It happens. Annoying, but pretty normal, at least at our house.

Again, on the floor, I find dirty clothes that never made it to the hamper. OK. Normal too. Kids get distracted at the end of a day and socks and underwear end up going from their bodies to the floor. I wish it were different, but that's the way it is. Normal.

OK, open the drawers and this is where it gets weird. In the drawers, I find dirty clothes. Socks, underwear, T-shirts, etc. Not "this is clean enough to wear again" clothes. These are "mustard on the front of the shirt" clothes. Or smelly socks. And we don't need to get into the details about the underwear, because you get the picture. WHY WHY WHY do they end up in the drawers? If they can't seem to find the energy to put the clean clothes in the drawers from last week, why would they take the time to put the dirty clothes back in the drawer? Why not throw them on the floor like normal kids?

Ugh. This is one of the days I really feel like I'm way overqualified for this job.

  1. Got a good chuckle out of your post today. How many things do we have to do each day for which we are way over-qualified or even not qualified!! Since being a widow I have tried so hard to be da plumber, da carpenter, da yard mower and gardner, even try to fix the lawn mowers, change batteries and tires!! 'Bout now I have decided heck with it all! Guess we can't do that about the laundry.
